When the pandemic came to North America, award-winning EMT and ER tech Breonna Taylor was designated an essential worker. Breonna loved being at the hospital. Had she not been murdered by police on March 13, 2020, she would now be well on her way to becoming a nurse. The woman whose own life was taken before her 27th birthday wanted only to save the lives of others.
Artists 4 Racial Equality (ARE) is a group of Canadian musicians and visual artists who want the world to remember Breonna Taylor. We live in Toronto, where a Black person is 20 times more likely than a white person to be shot and killed by police. We are donating all proceeds from our song and video "Breonna" to Black community organizations across Canada via The Black Solidarity Fund. You can donate directly at:

LYRICS
In a world that didn't see you as you are
You decided to become a shining star
Such a healer and a gentle friend
A helper to the very end
Your life had only just begun
(Chorus)
Breonna you were taken far too young
Breonna there were songs you had not sung
Breonna you know it's a crying shame
But I'm never gonna stop saying your name
And you dreamed about the months and years ahead
Planned the day that you would be a newlywed
You were gonna get a good degree
And raise a little family
A daughter and a loving son
(Chorus)
No justice, no peace
No killer police
No closure for your mother or your man
The people you saved
Now stand at your grave
None of them will ever understand
I'll never understand
(Chorus)
